The artist uses his immense toolbox of technological competence and creativity as tools for his art. Various, partly patented process technologies are used in combination to create the "Arts", his compositions. The image ccomposing is done with digital brushes and real brushes, as well as squeegees, rollers and spray applications. Also primary form and forming technologies. Milling technologies and lamination. In addition, the structuring using laser technology and the self-patented 3C technology play a major role in the generation of the works of art.
 
All motifs in Kilian Saueressig's works are handmade. There is no repetition of the structure within the "Arts". They are endless. Every picture that has a form and leaves the frame also needs a form. The form is a lost form. It will be recycled after the completion of the corresponding works. The works are painted, illustrated and structured on many materials, such as translucent surfaces developed in-house, wood, aluminium, steel or real gold or platinum.

 

TECHNIQUES, TECHNOLOGIES AND PROCESSES IN DETAIL
 

POLYMER TECHNOLOGY
All works "Arts" by Kilian Saueressig are unique due to the use of self-developed materials. He developed polymer technology that is used to produce his own materials, adhesives or paints. The polymer materials he uses consist of 70% - 99% renewable, non-fossil raw materials. The percentage varies depending on the area of application and the desired effect. The quota is given individually for each work of art.
 
In addition to the innovative adhesives and paints, the artist is particularly proud of the development of the translucent surface materials, which sometimes also function as canvases for the compositions. The canvases of the light compositions and the other "Arts" can be structured three-dimensionally and painted in three-dimensional colors. They are partly laminated on organic cotton, on wood or metal. The possible uses are extensive.
 
The fact that Kilian Saueressig even develops his own polymers is due to the fact that the materials available on the market, combined with the highest level of freedom from harmful substances, do not have the required mechanical properties such as elasticity and translucency for his artworks. In order to do without harmful substances such as plasticizers, which are not prohibited in certain quantities but still emit pollutants for decades, the artist researched and developed for several years in order to develop suitable materials for his "Arts". However, if harmful substances should be present, they will be indicated. There is no such thing as being completely free of pollutants, since normal room air already contains harmful substances. It's always a matter of quantity. Free means 1 mg per kilogram. One ppm. 0.00001%. All the materials used by Kilian Saueressig are free. "To put it simply: If you lick the translucent painted surfaces of my art, you ingest fewer harmful substances than if you lick an apple."
 

3C TECHNOLOGY WITH 3D COLOR AND STRUCTURE PROCESS
Kilian Saueressig's patented 3C technology is the first high-resolution 3D process.The process is generative and reproductive at the same time. The main difference is the three-dimensional structure in 3D color. The color (Color = C) is at the desired three-dimensional (= 3D) position. 3D in color = 3C. The color matches the structure. It communicates with it, follows it. Color-carrying layers lie within the material, never on the surfaces. The colors of the Arts are thus well protected.
 
All compositions by the artist are multidimensional. In the "Arts" there are usually at least three pieces of image information that are on different levels. The number of levels can be increased many times over. The planes can be opaque or transparent. The perception of the works in reflected light is opaque, without being illuminated themselves. Nevertheless, the works remain translucent. The different levels communicate with each other with different incidence or failure of light. The works are not displays. When changing the controllable LED light color of the works, they are never simply colored red, green or blue, for example. The visible image is always changing as well: Iid up, illuminated, even luminous. A multidimensional symphony of the interactions of light and shadow.
 
The works of Kilian Saueressig have 3D surfaces with reliefs of incredible depth, which give the works additional dimensions when viewed. These reliefs can have structures up to 3,000 micrometers deep. In the interior of automobiles or in luxury handbags, for example, these structures are only 100 - 200 micrometers deep, as this is where the technical limitation lies. At Kilian Saueressig, these depths are generated by his patented 3C technology. So that the relief can still be recognized as three-dimensional in transmitted light, all the structures created are "virtually enhanced" and "virtually enriched". So all structures and shadows are virtually emphasized and strengthened. The actually three-dimensional surface of the work of art is always perceived in a fascinating and three-dimensional way, both unlit and lit.
 
The color space used literally breaks all conventions. The sophisticated technologies used also enable the use of a wide variety of colors and also metallic tones. This creates an unprecedented richness of colour. The interwoven micro and macro structures are plastic. Matt and gloss level, reflection, absorption, haptics: nothing is a coincidence. Everything is methodically controlled via the process technology. An artistic play with physics and chemistry and ambient light.


PAINTS
Velvety soft, exciting, sparkling, wear-resistant, UV-resistant and food-resistant surfaces can be achieved with the self-developed paints by Kilian Saueressig. They are made from 70% - 90% renewable, non-fossil raw materials. The percentage varies depending on the area of application and the desired effect. The quota is given individually for each work of art.
 
 
WOOD
All wooden parts used are purchased from the artist. Only FSC-certified and untreated wood is used. All treatments and surface sealing of the wood are carried out with self-developed oils and varnishes by Kilian Saueressig, which far exceed the highest ecological standard available on the market.
 

ADHESIVES
The adhesives were also developed and manufactured in-house to ensure the necessary translucency, minimum use of materials and a very good ecological balance. The adhesive from Kilian Saueressig is highly efficient. Around 80% less adhesive is required than when using commercially available adhesives. The solids content of commercially available adhesives is much lower and otherwise consists of partly not harmless solvents that are released into the room air. Adhesives from artists have a high solids content, are basically solvent-free or otherwise use non-toxic solvents. In addition, the adhesives have optimized adhesive properties. All are intelligent materials. Are "in situ" - remain in the originally desired location. are hybrids. Are "smart" adhesives.
 
 
PC FRAME
The self-developed translucent screen is usually held by frames or panels made of polycarbonate (PC). Although there is no obligation to label the additives used with PC, Kilian Saueressig does not use any treated polycarbonates, as they are known to be harmful to health and the environment, even in small quantities. The PC materials used by Kilian Saueressig are bought in untreated. They are not harmful to health because only plastic without additives such as plasticizers (phthalates), UV stabilizers or flame retardants is used. As a result, no pollutants are released into the room air and cannot enter the body via skin contact. All frames are self-made to meet Kilian Saueressig's requirements in terms of transparency and shadows. Therefore, the construction, which is not visible to the viewer, is very elaborately designed so that nothing disturbing can be seen in transmitted light and the transmitted light is also let through accordingly to the front, to the sides and partly also to the back.
 
 
PIGMENTS
The artist mixes his own colors for his compositions. A wide variety of pigments and auxiliaries are used. From this, Kilian Saueressig generates exactly the colors that are desired for the respective "arts" and are optimally matched to the 3C technology. The color stimulus is created by planned absorption and remission, scattering and reflection of visible light. All the colors used have been technically and ecologically optimized by Kilian Saueressig, from the translucent materials to the paint on the picture frames.
 
 
LED TECHNOLOGY
The LED technology installed in the illuminated "Arts" is purchased from the artist. The RGBWW LED strips used are made to measure for the respective work of art and installed. They are glued with his own adhesives and can be easily replacced, should that become nessecary over the years.
